General Description - The first three levels of the Masters License are 25-ton, 50-ton and 100-ton.  The Masters License is required to operate an inspected vessel that carries seven or more passengers.  In order to carry seven or more passengers “under sail,” a Sail Endorsement is also required.

General Course Description - This course is for upgrading an existing OUPV License (6-pack) to a 25-ton, 50-ton or 100-ton Masters License.  It can also be taken in conjunction with the OUPV course to apply for the Masters License.  This course is 24-hours and runs for three consecutive days.   Class hours are from 8:00 am through 5:30 PM for the three days of instruction.  We give the test at the end of day 3.

License Operating Area - Based on the geographical area of your sea service experience, this license can be issued for “Inland” waters or “Great Lakes” waters, or “Near Coastal” waters.  The “Inland” license is just US “Inland” waters.  The “Great Lakes” license includes “Inland” waters.  The “Near Coastal” license includes “Inland”, “Great Lakes” and “Near Coastal” waters up to 200 nautical miles offshore.
